What to do in Aups?

Aups is at the southern limit of the Verdon gorges. You can therefore enjoy all the activities that can be practiced in the gorges : hiking, climbing, kayaking, rafting, etc.... Lake St. Croix is only a few minutes away. So there is no need to go to the sea to enjoy a large body of water with all the associated water sports.

Every Wednesday and Saturday morning, the Provençal market is held at Place Frédéric Mistral. In summer, you can go to the white truffle market every Wednesday. In winter, the black truffle market awaits you every Thursday. The quantity of truffles is highly variable from one season to another depending on the soil moisture. Prices are set according to supply and demand. They can fly away when the harvest is low.

The Simon Segal Museum is open in the Ursuline Chapel. It is a superb museum of contemporary art with temporary exhibitions in summer. If you prefer sculpture, you can stroll through the alleys of an open-air museum : the Faykod Museum. Beautiful marble sculptures created by artist Maria de Faykod are visible throughout the garden.

What to do around Aups?

Going south, you can discover the Sillans waterfall. Just next door, Salernes, a small village typically Provençal awaits you with its narrow streets and ceramic craftsmen. Provence is the region where I was born and also one of the most beautiful in the world. I am very proud of it and I love to share my secrets with tourists passing through the Var and the French Riviera.
